IMO, I like to post my usual chattering on Twitter, and use Jaiku to watch all the other activity (feeds) from my friends.
If you post often, I don't think the twitter option is that great. Posting via Twitter means potentially large delays before it hits jaiku users, and the "plus 9 more" grouping stuff that jaiku does. So, I'm only using twitter for posting from IM when I'm out and about.

I tend to update twitter via IM, I like the web interface here better. I wish one of them would let you post and give you full updates via email.

I can't get Jaiku working from my ipaq, so i'll be forced to use twitter if i'm out, or use my mobile. At least I can get emailed replies from Jaiku
